Dofus Class Tier Lists: How to Read Them, and Why They Keep Changing
Every Dofus 3 update brings a new tier list, and each one contradicts the last a little. Rather than adding another, here is how to read them: what they measure, what they leave out, and when to trust them.

Search for “Dofus tier list” and you will find dozens of colourful charts, from S to D, often confident and rarely in agreement with each other. It is not that their authors are wrong: they are not measuring the same thing, and not at the same time.
We are not publishing a tier list here. We do not have the data to make an honest one, and inventing one would not do you any favours. What we can do is help you read other people’s without picking the wrong class.
What a tier list is, and what it is not
A tier list sorts classes into tiers: S for the strongest, then A, B, C… It is an opinion, sometimes backed by statistics, more often by the experience of one player or a group of players. There is nothing wrong with that, as long as you know what you are reading.
Dofus now has nineteen classes, the latest being the Forgelance in 2025. Putting them on a single scale first requires answering one question: strong at doing what?
The four questions to ask a tier list
| Question | Why it matters | Where to find the answer |
|---|---|---|
| Which version is it from? | One rebalance can push a class up or down overnight | Publication date, version number (3.1, 3.3…) in the title or introduction |
| Which mode does it rate? | Solo PvM, group PvM, Kolossium 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3: these are not the same strengths | The title, the method, the stated criteria |
| At what level? | A class that is comfortable while levelling can struggle at level 200, and vice versa | Level bracket, a mention of “endgame” or “leveling” |
| Who made it, and how? | A player, a site, a community vote: each has its biases | Author, number of voters, explanations per class |
The version
Since Dofus 3 launched on 3 December 2024, versions have followed one another: 3.1 rolled out on 22 April 2025, then 3.2 and 3.3. Each one touches the spells of several classes. A tier list that gives neither a date nor a version should be read as a memory.
An example of good practice: the tier list published by the French site Millenium for Dofus 3.3 is dated (updated on 30 October 2025), states its criteria (versatility, self-sufficiency, dungeon efficiency) and makes clear that it targets solo, single-account progression. It also warns that it is only meant as a rough guide.
The mode
This is the most common mistake: reading a PvM tier list to choose a PvP class, or the other way round.
- In solo PvM, self-sufficiency is rewarded: healing, surviving, killing fast without relying on others.
- In group PvM, usefulness is rewarded: placing, protecting, removing AP and MP from monsters.
- In 3v3 Kolossium, a class is judged within a team composition; some shine next to one particular partner.
- In 1v1 Kolossium, every matchup counts, and a class can crush half the roster and lose to the other half.
1v1 is known to be hard to balance: in 2018, Ankama kept it out of the leagues, judging it too unbalanced.
The level
Since December 2023, the Kolossium has one queue for levels 20 to 199 and one for level 200. That is not a detail: the gear available, and therefore the relative strength of classes, changes completely from one bracket to the other. A “PvP 200” tier list says nothing about your level 120 character.
The author
- An expert player sees what works at a high level, but sometimes mostly plays their own class.
- A site may target beginner readers and favour comfort.
- A community vote, like those on TierMaker, aggregates opinions: one of these lists gathers 37 contributions, another, focused on solo 3v3 PvP, 15. That is not many, and everyone votes for what they know.
Why tier lists keep changing
Three reasons, which add up.
- Balancing. Every version changes spells. A class that dominated can lose a key spell; a forgotten class can gain the tool it was missing.
- New classes and new content. A new class changes the matchups of every other one; a new dungeon can reward different strengths.
- Discovery. Players invent new ways to play a class, without a single rule having changed.
In PvP, the pace is such that in 2026, creators publish a Dofus 3 tier list almost every month: March, April, May, June. If your source is more than a few months old, it may describe a game that no longer exists.
How to use a tier list without picking the wrong class
- Choose your mode first: solo progression, group, or PvP (and which one).
- Look for two or three recent tier lists for that mode, dated to the current version.
- Only look at the big gaps: a class that every list puts at the very bottom deserves some thought; between A and B, the difference is mostly a matter of taste.
- Then choose by style: melee, range, control, traps, summons. That is what will decide whether you are still playing that class in six months. Our article on which Dofus class to pick for your style sorts the nineteen classes this way.
- Test before you commit, in a challenge against a friend for example: Dofus PvP offers that mode with nothing at stake.
And in Solwaris: a rating per class rather than a tier list

In Solwaris, our turn-based tactical duel, the question works differently, for three reasons.
- There are no levels and no gear. Two players of the same class have exactly the same tools: a tier list does not have to account for “gear” or a level bracket.
- The game is built for the duel. The 6 classes are designed to fight 1v1, with a base of 12 AP and 6 MP per turn (the Arcanist has 14 AP, the Shade 7 MP).
- The Elo rating is separate for each class. You can be a beginner as a Clockmaker and experienced as a Warrior: learning a new class does not wreck your ranking.
The game is young and its community small, so we do not publish a Solwaris tier list either, for lack of enough fights for it to mean anything. Instead, each guide page details a class’s strengths, weaknesses and matchups, with numbers checked automatically against the game code on every change: Warrior, Brute, Arcanist, Shade, Clockmaker, Artificer.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Dofus class according to tier lists?
There is no single one. Tier lists change with every version, and they do not rank the same things depending on whether they target solo PvM, group PvM, 1v1 Kolossium or 3v3. Check the date and the mode being rated first.
Why do Dofus tier lists change all the time?
Because Ankama rebalances classes with every update, new classes arrive, like the Forgelance in 2025, and players discover new ways to play. In PvP, some creators publish a tier list almost every month.
Should you choose your Dofus class with a tier list?
It can help you avoid a class that is struggling in the mode you care about, but not choose the one you will enjoy. A lower-ranked class played well often beats a top-tier class played badly.
Does a PvM tier list apply to PvP?
No. In PvM, you judge self-sufficiency and speed against monsters; in PvP, control, mobility and matchups against other classes. The same class can sit at the top of one and in the middle of the other.
