Best Dofus Class: Match It to Your Play Style, and Its Solwaris Equivalent

There is no best Dofus class: there is the one that fits the way you play. We are the team behind Solwaris, a tactical duel game inspired by Dofus combat. Here are the nineteen Dofus classes sorted by style and, for each style, the Solwaris class that comes closest.

It is the question every player asks when creating a character, and the one that comes back with every big update: what is the best Dofus class? The honest answer is disappointing: none, in absolute terms. A class shines in a group and struggles solo, dominates the PvP of one version and falls back in the next.

The better question is: which class matches the way you play? Dofus now has nineteen classes, the latest being the Forgelance, released in 2025. They fall quite naturally into a few broad styles.

This table simplifies on purpose: most classes have several paths, and the same class can be played for damage or support depending on its spells and gear. But it helps you rule out straight away what you will not enjoy.

To hit hard: Iop, Sacrier, Ouginak

These are the easiest classes to read. The Iop is the warrior par excellence, with melee damage and the mobility to reach its target. The Sacrier turns the hits it takes into power: it is made to stand in the middle of the fight. The Ouginak, a hunter who hounds its prey, also plays constant pressure.

If you are starting out, this is the most comfortable family: what you have to do is obvious, and your mistakes show quickly.

In Solwaris: the Warrior, whose Wrath grows spell after spell, and the Brute, which hits all the harder the more wounded it is.

To keep your distance: Cra, Huppermage

The Cra is the archer of Dofus: long range, steady damage, and a whole game built around line of sight. The Huppermage handles the elements and chains its spells to strengthen them. These classes demand a good read of the map: one badly placed obstacle and your turn is wasted.

In Solwaris: the Arcanist, with 14 AP and spells that reach up to 9 tiles.

To control: Xelor and Enutrof

This is where tactical Dofus really comes into its own. The Xelor bends time: it removes AP, teleports, rewinds effects. The Enutrof slows opponents down by removing MP. A control class does not win by hitting harder, it wins by stopping the other player from playing. It is fearsome in PvP, and demanding.

In Solwaris: the Clockmaker, which steals AP and MP, turns back time and swaps places.

The niche styles: traps, summons, placement, luck

  • Sram: invisible traps, invisibility, hits in the back. The terrain becomes a weapon, and the opponent plays in the fog.
  • Osamodas and Sadida: you do not fight alone, you deploy creatures or dolls. Powerful, but slow to master.
  • Pandawa, Masqueraider, Foggernaut, Eliotrope: carrying, throwing, pushing, opening portals. Classes for those who see the fight as a game of chess.
  • Ecaflip: the player who accepts luck as part of the plan.
  • Rogue: bombs laid in advance, going off at the right moment. A class of preparation.

In Solwaris: the Shade for Sram-style traps and invisibility, the Artificer for Rogue-style bombs. Solwaris has no healer and no luck class for now; summons exist, but as a side tool (the Arcanist’s Flame elemental, the Clockmaker’s Automaton).

And for PvP, which class should you choose?

Dofus PvP, in the Kolossium (1v1, 2v2 or 3v3) as in duels, changes with every balance update. So be wary of fixed tier lists: they hold for one version and often for one specific mode. A few principles, however, do not move:

  1. Acting first gives a huge advantage in the opening turns.
  2. AP and MP control wins more fights than raw damage: an opponent who can neither move nor cast does nothing to you.
  3. Range lets you choose when the exchange begins.
  4. Placement decides everything else: line of sight, pushes, retreats.

The best PvP class is therefore the one that lets you apply these principles in the style you enjoy. A “strong” class played badly loses to an “average” class played well.

If it is the combat you love in Dofus, and PvP in particular, Solwaris offers exactly that: turn-based 1v1 duels, with AP, MP and lines of sight, free to play in a browser. Its 6 classes echo styles you will recognise:

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Dofus class for beginners?

A class with a simple role is the most comfortable to learn with. The Iop hits hard in melee, the Cra attacks from range, the Sacrier soaks up damage. Control classes like the Xelor or placement classes like the Pandawa are more demanding at first.

How many classes are there in Dofus?

Nineteen. The most recent is the Forgelance, added in 2025.

What is the best Dofus class for PvP?

It changes with every balance update. Rather than trusting a fixed tier list, look at what wins PvP in the current version, meaning AP and MP control, range and the ability to act first, then pick the class that combines them in your style.

Are Dofus class tier lists reliable?

Rarely for long. A tier list reflects one version of the game and one mode, PvM or PvP, often in a group. Always check its date and the mode it rates before choosing a class on that basis alone.
